Tips for getting most out of your wedding DJ

When you have decided to hire a wedding dj for your big day instead of hire a band for a wedding, then there must be something to make best of it.

Here are some tips to helps you to setup the things to make it more enjoyable.
1.     Establish up front that you are the client and you are in charge. Let your dj know if you don’t like a person who just talks. Tell him if he has absolutely no room for independent judgment. If you don’t want to hear a single song that isn’t on your personal playlist, let him know. Lay out the ground rules and discuss openly to be a little bit aggressive and put it writing, asking him to acknowledge your requests. Many DJs prefer you be upfront and direct. Just don’t be rude about it
2.     Be very specific about your playlist and, if he doesn’t give you a good form of work with, create your own list and include the following categories
Ceremony Music
·        Music for seating the mothers
·        Music for the bridesmaids’ processional
·        Music for the bride’s processional
·        Recessional music
·        Prelude music
             Reception
·        Pre-entrance music
·        Entrance Music
·        First dance song
·        Family members dance song
·        Dinner music
·        Cake cutting song
·        Toss the bouquet song
·        Last dance song
3.     Decide whether your wedding dj is going to take requests from guests or not. It’s better to have this option
request. Guest would get more entertained if music is up to their taste.

If you are not working with event entertainment companies, and you do not trust the recommendations from your venue’s manager, do your own research and explore what other brides who recently got married has to say about their DJs. Hopefully you can learn better from their experiences rather to have your own bad experience.
